Gupta Soap Industries

Our small setup, Gupta Soap Industries, is located at 10/ 123 on Swarn Path in the Mansarovar area. It is a residential-cum-commercial zone, so it is relatively calm compared to the industrial estates. The air inside our place usually smells like soap and the ingredients we use to make it. We spend our days mixing batches and letting them set before cutting them into bars. It is a repetitive process, but there is a certain rhythm to it that we like. Mansa Swarn Path is a decent enough street. We have a few people helping with the wrapping and packing of the soaps. It’s a lot of manual work, making sure each piece is okay before it goes into a box. We don’t have a big storefront; most of our activity happens in the back where the vats are. We have lived and worked in Mansarovar for years, so we are quite familiar with the neighborhood. Some people stop by just because they smell the soap from the street. It is not a high-tech operation, just some basic machinery and a lot of hands-on effort. We keep our records in simple books and focus on keeping the production going. It’s a steady way to spend the day and we feel good about what we make here. The packing takes time but we don't mind the quiet work. We often listen to the radio while we wrap the bars for the local shops.
