Golden Spoon

The Golden Spoon is over here on Tonk Road in the Mahaveer Nagar area, specifically at S-7,8. Being right on the main road means there is never a quiet moment. We get a lot of students from the nearby hostels who are always in a hurry and want their food as fast as possible. The kitchen gets incredibly hot in the afternoons, and the exhaust fan never seems to do enough. I spend a lot of my time just standing at the counter taking orders and yelling back to the cooks. We keep the menu pretty simple because that’s what people around here want. There is always a stack of dirty dishes in the sink, and the guy who helps with the cleaning is often late. It’s a bit chaotic when the lunch rush hits. We have to keep moving chairs around to fit everyone in. Sometimes we run out of onions or tomatoes and I have to send someone to the market on a scooter. The tiles on the floor are a bit chipped, but we keep them as clean as possible. In the evenings, the street lights come on and the traffic gets even worse, but that’s when we get the most people. It’s just a regular place where you can get a meal without waiting too long. We don't do anything fancy, just standard food for the neighborhood folks.
