Working inside Hypercity in Jhotwara is a different experience compared to a street-side shop. Food Court is right there in the middle of all the shopping action. It’s always bright because of the mall lights, so we sometimes forget what time it is outside. There’s no natural breeze, just the air conditioning, which is nice in the summer but gets a bit cold in the winter. We see thousands of people walk past every day. Most are just looking, but some stop for a bite. It’s a fast pace. We don’t really have time for long chats like the guys in the local markets do. We have to keep the counters wiped down constantly because people are always moving through. The sounds of the mall—the music, the announcements, the kids playing—it all becomes background noise after a while. Our team is small, just a few of us behind the counter. We take turns going for breaks to the staff area. Jhotwara is a busy part of the city, and being in Hypercity means we are always on our toes. We don't have a big backstory or anything. We just showed up when the space was available and started cooking. It's a lot of standing on your feet all day. By the end of the shift, we’re ready to head home, but it’s good to be part of the hustle. We just do the work and go. Then we do it again.
