Choudhary Gems & Crafts

Our place is called Choudhary House, number 47, right on Hawa Mahal Road. Being on such a famous road means there are always tourists and traffic passing by. We run Choudhary Gems & Crafts from here, and it’s been in the family for a while. The building is an old one, with thick walls and narrow doorways that can be a bit of a squeeze. Inside, we have various stones and handcrafted items spread out on tables and in cabinets. It’s not like those shiny modern jewelry stores you see in the malls. It’s more of a workshop feel where you can see the tools we use for the crafts. Dust settles on everything if we don’t wipe it down every single morning. We spend a lot of time looking at small details through magnifying glasses. Sometimes the light on Hawa Mahal Road is just right in the afternoon, and it makes the whole room look different. We aren't trying to be anything we aren't. We just make things, show them to people who come in, and hope they like what they see. Some days are slow, and we just sit and drink tea while waiting for a customer. Other days, it’s a madhouse with people asking a hundred questions. We just take it as it comes and keep the craft going as best as we can in this old house.
