If you walk down Kabir Ave in Mansarovar, you’ll find us at 3/4. It’s a busy street and there’s always someone honking outside. Our shop is where we keep all the stock for the shoes. It’s not a huge place, so the boxes are stacked almost to the ceiling in the back room. You can smell the rubber and the leather as soon as you step inside the door. We spend a lot of time pulling boxes down to find the right size for someone. Sometimes we can't find the ladder and have to use a chair, which probably isn't the safest thing to do. The floor is a bit scuffed up from people trying on different pairs and walking back and forth to see how they feel. We have one old mirror in the corner that’s a bit tilted. On rainy days, the floor gets muddy because people bring the street in with them. We don’t really mind, we just mop it up later. There’s a guy who sells fruit right outside our entrance, so it always smells like guavas or oranges near the front. We’ve been here at Mansarovar for a long time. People around here know us by name. We don’t do anything special, just sell shoes and talk to the neighbors. It's a simple business. We close up when the sun goes down and do it all again tomorrow morning after a quick sweep.
