Balaji Transport

Our office is right on National Highway 8 in Paota. If you’re driving by, you’ll see us directly across from the Balaji Dharm Kanta. It’s a loud spot because of the big trucks constantly pulling over to get weighed. The ground stays dusty and there’s always a layer of grit on the windows, no matter how much we wipe them down. We have a few wooden benches outside where the drivers sit and wait for their turns. Inside, it’s mostly just files, some old calendars on the walls, and a landline phone that rings a lot. The traffic on the highway never really stops, so there is always a low hum in the background. We keep a pot of water in the corner for anyone who’s thirsty. Sometimes the trucks block the entrance for a bit, but we just shout out and get them moved. It’s a busy life here. We see people coming from all over the country, just passing through on their way to Jaipur or Delhi. Night time is actually busier sometimes when the long-haul guys pull in. We don’t have air conditioning, just a ceiling fan that works most of the time. The floor is concrete and a bit cracked in places. We’ve been here since the highway was much smaller. It’s a practical place for a transport business and we like being right where the action is.
