Our workshop is located at G 108 in the Mansarovar Riico Industrial Area. Being in an industrial zone means there’s always something going on around us, whether it’s a truck backing up or the sound of metal being cut next door. We focus on crafts here, so the floor is usually covered in wood shavings or scraps of material. It’s a big open space with high ceilings that get really cold in the winter and roasting in the summer. We have a few workbenches where the guys sit and do the fine detail work. It’s not a place where you’d find a lot of fancy decorations; it’s strictly for production. We have a small corner with a kettle where we make tea about five times a day. Most of the people working here live nearby, so we’re all pretty local. We don’t spend much time on the computer unless we have to check an order or talk to a customer. Mostly, it’s just the sound of tools and people talking over the noise of the machines. We’ve been in this Riico spot for years and the building has definitely seen better days, but it serves us well. It’s just a place for work, and we try to get as much done as we can before the power cuts hit in the afternoon. That’s just life in Mansarovar for us.
