If you head down to Kasida Gali in Sanganer, you will find us at number 3 in the Modi Market. This part of Pratap Nagar is always moving. Ambika Cloth Store is a small place packed with different fabrics. There isn't much room to move around once a few people are inside, especially with the bolts of cloth sitting on the floor. It’s a bit dusty because of all the fabric fibers in the air, but that's just how it is in a cloth market. We don't have fancy displays or bright lights. Most of our day is spent measuring out meters of cloth and cutting them with a heavy pair of scissors. The lane outside, Kasida Gali, is narrow and gets quite crowded with carts and motorcycles all day. You have to be careful not to get bumped while you walk. We've been in this market for a while now, and we know most of the other shopkeepers nearby. It’s an honest way to spend the day. We don't use any big words to describe what we do. We just sell cloth by the meter to anyone who comes in. Sometimes we sit on the stools and wait for the heat of the afternoon to pass. It is a simple life in Sanganer, just doing the same work every day and hoping the electricity stays on so the fans keep turning for the people inside.
