Shahi Bhog Caterers

Shahi Bhog Caterers is tucked away at Gf 26, Shop No 4 in the Manglik Bhavan building. It is right across from the Sayaji Hotel Park, so there is always a lot of movement outside our door. Most mornings start early here in Vijay Nagar with the sound of the shutters going up and the smell of spices beginning to fill the air. The shop is not very large, but we manage to fit all our big cooking pots and crates in the back. Usually, you will find one of us sitting at the small desk near the front, trying to keep the ledger updated while the workers are busy cleaning the vegetables. It gets quite hot in the kitchen area during the afternoons, especially when the big burners are all going at once. We spend a lot of time coordinating with the delivery drivers who have to navigate the busy streets around the park. Sometimes the traffic makes things difficult, but we have gotten used to the pace of this neighborhood. We don’t have any fancy decorations or a big showroom. It is just a practical place where the work gets done. Most of our day involves checking the quality of the grains we buy and making sure the staff knows the schedule for the upcoming week. It is hard work and our hands are usually stained with turmeric by the time we head home in the evening. That is just how life is for us at the shop.
