Koolwal Stones

Our place is tucked away in Ratan Lok Colony, right by the power house in Vijayanagar. If you know the Scheme No. 53 area, we are pretty easy to find. It is a bit of a residential spot mixed with business, so things stay lively throughout the day. We have various stones piled up and we spend a lot of time sorting through them to see what is good and what isn't. It is not always clean work. Dealing with heavy materials means there is always something to move or stack. Sometimes the power goes out because we are so close to the station, and we just have to wait it out or work in the dark for a bit. My father started this and now we just keep it going as best as we can. We do not have a big team, just a few of us who know the materials well. People from around the colony often walk in just to ask questions or see what we have landed in the latest shipment. The sun gets really hot on the stone in the afternoons, so we usually take a break for tea around four. It is a simple setup at number 65. We do not use any big machines, mostly just manual labor and a lot of patience. Every piece of stone has its own look, and that is what makes the job interesting every day when we open up.
