Sangam Granites

Our place, Sangam Granites, is out in Amarawadgi Village. We are near the Ilkal Post Office in the Hungund Taluka part of Bagalkot District. This area is famous for stone, so there are a lot of us doing this kind of work around here. It is a bit of a drive to get out to us, but that’s where the space is for all this granite. We have a big area where the raw blocks and finished slabs sit. The air always smells a bit like wet stone because of the cutting saws. We are a local bunch of guys and we have been working with granite most of our lives. It’s a village life, so things move a little slower than in the big cities, but the work is still tough. We spend a lot of time checking the slabs for cracks or weird spots. When the rain comes, the yard gets a bit muddy, but we just put on our boots and keep going. Most of our days are spent loading up trucks that are headed out to the bigger towns. We don’t have a website or anything like that, just our yard and our name on the gate. People know us in Bagalkot because we have been at this for a long time. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from sunrise to sunset.
