If you head down to Bus Stand Road in Ilkal, you will find us at 48/14. Being so close to the bus stand means there is always noise and people moving about. Bagalkot is known for its stone, and we at Sampat Granites are right in the middle of that local trade. The dust is just part of the job here, and you get used to the smell of diesel from the buses nearby. We open up early, usually before the first big rush of commuters. Our yard isn't the biggest, but we make use of every inch of space we have on this plot. It takes a lot of effort to keep the granite organized so we can actually find what someone asks for. Most of the time, it's just us moving pieces from one side to the other or checking for cracks. The weather in Bagalkot can be tough on the equipment, so there is always something needing a bit of oil or a repair. We don't have any fancy signs or big posters. It's just a gate and the stone. Sometimes travelers from the bus stand wander in thinking we sell something else, and we have to point them toward the markets. In the evening, when the bus traffic dies down, it finally gets peaceful. We take a bit of time to sit down before closing up the shop for the night and heading home. It is a simple routine that we have followed for years.
