Sweekar Restaurant

Our restaurant is at 3-3-13, right at the Kachiguda X Roads. It’s a very busy intersection in Hyderabad. We are directly across from the Vysyas Hostel. Because of the hostel, we get a lot of students coming in. They are always looking for a cheap meal that tastes like home. The noise from the traffic outside never really stops. You hear the autos and the buses all day long. The building is old and has that specific Kachiguda feel to it. I spend my day managing the kitchen and making sure the servers are moving. It gets very crowded during lunch hour. People are in a hurry to get back to work or class. We don't have much time for small talk then. But in the late afternoon, it quietens down. I usually sit near the front then. We have been at this location for many years. Everyone knows the Kachiguda X Roads. It’s a landmark itself. The restaurant is just a simple place to eat. We don't have fancy menus with pictures. Just the food we know how to make. It’s a bit cramped when it’s full, but nobody seems to mind. We just focus on getting the plates out. It’s how we’ve always done it. It’s just a normal part of the street life here. We keep it practical and keep the food moving.
