Soy Richy Treats

Our place, Soy Richy Treats, is located in the Nacharam Industrial Development Area. We are on Road No. 14, at 6/1/A. Being in an IDA means there are factories all around us. We focus on soy-based food items. It’s a bit of a dusty area with all the trucks moving in and out, but it’s where the production happens. We have a small unit where we process the soy and package the treats. It’s not a glamorous job. Most of the day we are wearing aprons and making sure the machinery is running okay. We started this because we saw a lot of people looking for alternative proteins. We don't spend money on big ads. We just make the food and sell it to the local shops and some distributors. Sometimes the humidity in Hyderabad messes with the cooling systems, so we have to watch that closely. The staff is mostly local people from the nearby colonies. We eat lunch together in the small break room. We try to keep things clean and follow the basic food safety rules. It’s a lot of hard work and physical labor. We aren't some massive food brand you see on TV. We’re just a small outfit in an industrial estate trying to make something decent. Some days are better than others, especially when a big order comes through.
