Savla Spice & Pickle

If you walk down 7-3-650 in the Street Market, you’ll find us easily. The market is always crowded and there’s a lot of noise from all the vendors calling out. We deal in spices and pickles, so our shop always has a very strong smell that hits you as soon as you get close. It’s a mix of vinegar and ground chili most days. The space we have is quite small, so we have to stack the jars and bags right up to the ceiling. It can be a bit of a struggle to find things sometimes when it gets really busy. People come to the market for their weekly shopping and they usually stop by to see what we have ready. We don't have a website or anything like that; people just know we are here in the middle of the street. Dealing with pickles means things can get a bit sticky, and we spend a lot of time cleaning up spills. The market starts early in the morning, and we are usually here before the sun is fully up to get everything set out. It's a lot of standing around and talking to customers. We don't have any fancy titles, we just sell what we make and hope the rain doesn't leak through the roof. It’s a basic life in the market and it suits us just fine.
