Lamcy Bakery

Running a bakery at 5-1-2 & 3 on Kings Way is a lot of early mornings. We are right on R P Road and the area starts getting busy way before the sun is even up. We have to get the ovens going early so the bread is ready for the morning crowd. The building is old and it has that specific smell of flour and yeast that never really goes away. It’s a small shop and we have to use every bit of space we have for the bags of sugar and flour. We don't have a big team, just a couple of us who know how the machines work and how to handle the dough. Sometimes the ovens get a bit temperamental but we have learned how to fix them over the years. We see a lot of people stopping by on their way to work to grab something quickly. It is not a place with fancy display cases or bright lights, just simple shelves with whatever we baked that morning. We deal with the usual city problems like the power going out or the street being blocked for repairs. We just keep our heads down and keep working. It is a humble kind of job but it feels good when the racks are full. We have been part of this street for a long time and we know most of the shopkeepers around us.
