Jayshri Mess

Jayshri Mess is located in Dochanya Chambers, right by the Paradise Circle on S D Road. If you know Secunderabad, you know how busy this area gets with all the offices and shops. Our mess is a place where people come when they want a quick, filling meal without any fuss. We have long tables where people sometimes sit with others they don't even know, just to get their lunch eaten before heading back to work. The morning starts with us lugging in heavy bags of rice and crates of vegetables. The kitchen is always steaming because we have those huge pots of sambar and rasam bubbling away. You can hear the sound of steel ladles hitting the sides of the pots all morning long. Around 12:30, the rush starts, and it doesn't really stop until 3:00. It gets loud and hot, but that’s just how a mess works. We don't have menus printed on fancy paper; people usually just know what we’re serving that day. We try to keep the floor swept between the rushes, but it’s a constant battle with so many feet coming through. It’s a simple, hardworking place, and we’ve been part of the S D Road scene for quite some time now, serving the local workers every day. Usually, by the time we close up, we are pretty tired but ready to do it all again tomorrow.
