Akshara Yoga School

Down in Esamya Bazaar at House No 4-6-456, you’ll find Akshara Yoga School. It is right in the heart of Koti, which is usually a very busy and noisy part of Hyderabad. But once you step inside our door, things tend to quiet down a little bit. We have a simple room with enough space for people to lay out their mats. The floor is hard, so most people bring their own padding. We don’t have fancy mirrors or high-end sound systems. It’s mostly just people coming in to stretch and breathe for an hour or so. There is a faint smell of incense sometimes, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint. We have a small cupboard where we keep some extra blocks and straps for those who forget theirs. The light comes in through these old windows that face the street, and you can still hear the distant honking of autos outside. People from all over Koti come here, mostly after work or early in the morning before the shops open up. It is a bit of a walk from the main bus stop, but it’s not too bad once you know the way. We just focus on the basics of moving and sitting still. It’s a very plain setup, really. No one wears anything too special, just comfortable clothes. We spend our time managing the schedule and making sure the floor stays clean for the next group.
