Ma Tara Machine Shop

If you head down Mirpar Road toward Bhatta Nagar in Howrah, you will find us at 251/1. Ma Tara Machine Shop has been sitting on this road for quite some time now. It’s a gritty kind of place with the smell of oil and metal everywhere. We spend our days at the lathes and various tools, making parts or fixing whatever someone brings in. The floor is concrete and usually has some grease spots on it, no matter how much we try to clean. It’s a noisy environment with the sound of grinding and metal hitting metal, but we don't mind it. Our team is small, mostly just a few guys who have been working with machines for years. We wear old clothes because everything gets dirty within the first hour of work anyway. The road outside can get pretty busy with trucks and rickshaws, especially during the morning rush. We usually have a tea stall nearby where we go for a break and to catch up on the local news. We don't have a website or any fancy marketing; people just know we are here on Mirpar Road when they need something turned or welded. It’s basic, honest work and we take pride in getting the dimensions right. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s what we know how to do.
