G. K. Steel Corporation

We operate out of 107 I. R. Belilious Lane in Howrah. It’s a busy industrial kind of area. There is always the sound of metal moving or trucks backing up somewhere nearby. The shop itself is mostly full of steel items and various parts. It’s not a place for looking around; it’s more of a place where you come to get exactly what you need for a job. The walls are a bit stained from the years of work, and there’s always a bit of iron smell in the air. Howrah gets very crowded during the day, so getting deliveries in and out takes some patience. We have been here for a long time. The desk we use is old wood and covered in papers and receipts. We don’t use computers for everything, mostly just pens and ledgers. Sometimes the rain floods the lane a little bit, so we have to put everything on higher pallets. It’s just part of being in this neighborhood. The guys who work here have been with us for years. We know the regular customers who come from the workshops nearby. There’s no big showroom or anything like that. Just the stacks of steel and us. We open up, do the orders, and head home when the sun goes down. Even with the noise and the dirt, it's where we belong in the middle of Howrah.
