Forgings (India) Iron & Steel Ltd. is located at 62/D/2 on J. N. Mukherjee Road. This part of Ghusuri is very industrial, so it’s always loud and a bit dusty. You can smell the metal and the smoke from the various plants around here. Our gate at 62/D/2 is where the trucks come in to load and unload throughout the day. It’s a heavy environment, not really the place for a suit and tie. Most of us wear work clothes that can get a bit of grease on them. J. N. Mukherjee Road is a major route, so there is a constant stream of heavy vehicles passing by. Forgings (India) Iron & Steel Ltd. has its own rhythm. We start early before the sun gets too high because the heat from the machinery adds to the summer temperature. The walls inside are dark from years of work. We have a small area for tea and lunch where we sit on benches and talk about the news or the cricket scores. It’s a straightforward life. We don't spend money on fancy brochures or office upgrades. The money goes into the equipment and keeping the place running. People in Ghusuri know us as just another one of the iron and steel shops on the road. We’ve been here long enough that we don’t need a big sign. The noise of the hammers and the hiss of the cooling metal tells you exactly where you are. It's tough work but it's what we do.
