Flex Steel

We are based at 33, Hat Lane, right near the Howrah Jail. It’s an old part of the city, and the lanes are narrow and winding. You can smell the history of the place, but mostly you just smell the grease and the metal from all the workshops nearby. Our building is nothing special, just a brick structure that’s been there forever. We work with steel, so there is always a lot of heavy lifting and moving things around. The humidity in Howrah can be really brutal, especially during the rainy season when the lanes get a bit flooded. We just wear our old clothes and get to work. Flex Steel isn't a big corporation with fancy meetings. We usually just stand around a table and figure out what needs to be done for the day. There’s a guy who comes by with a tea kettle every morning, and that’s a highlight of our day. We know the other businesses on Hat Lane, and we all help each other out when someone needs a tool or an extra hand. It’s a rough and ready kind of life, but it suits us. We don’t put on any acts for anyone. If you come by, you’ll see us as we are, likely covered in a bit of dust and busy with a new batch of steel. It’s just our daily routine at this old address. Some days are harder than others, but we keep the machines running.
