We are located in Howrah, at 12/1, P.K. Roy Chowdhury 1st Bye Lane. This part of Howrah is full of narrow streets and old buildings, and we are right in one of them. Our name is Essar, and we’ve been operating from this lane for many years. It’s a place where you can still hear the neighbors talking and the sound of bells from the local temple. We mostly handle industrial supplies and engineering parts. The office is quite old-fashioned with wooden desks and big heavy ledgers that we still use for some of our notes. It’s a bit dark inside, but we have enough light to see what we are doing. The lane can get very crowded with rickshaws and people, so getting a truck in here is always a bit of a project. We don't have a marketing department or even a proper brochure. Most of the people we work with have been our customers since my father’s time. We just focus on doing the work properly and not making a big fuss about it. There’s a small courtyard in the back where we keep some of the heavier items under a tin roof. It’s a simple, honest way to make a living and we are happy staying here in the old part of town. The lane is so narrow that sometimes we have to help the delivery guys back their vehicles out. It's just part of the daily routine.
