We’ve been operating out of 3A Raja Apurba Krishna Lane for many years. It’s an old part of the city, and the building has a lot of character, even if it’s a bit worn down in places. This is where the foundry business happens. It’s noisy and hot work, as you’d expect from a foundry. There’s always the smell of metal and smoke in the air. We have a core group of workers who have been with us through everything. They know the machines better than anyone. The office is just a small room off to the side where we keep the ledgers and handle the billing. It’s often covered in a thin layer of dust, no matter how much we clean. We aren't a corporate giant; we're just a local foundry trying to keep up with the orders. We make parts for all sorts of things, mostly heavy industrial stuff. Dealing with the heat in the summer is the hardest part of the job. We drink a lot of water and keep the fans going. It’s a tough environment, but it’s what we know. We don’t spend money on fancy decorations or expensive furniture. Everything here is functional and has a purpose. We just focus on getting the casting right and making sure the shipments go out on time. It is a long day for most of us, but seeing the finished products stacked up by the door makes it feel worthwhile. We usually wrap things up by late evening and lock the gates.
