Our office is located in the village of Muralibar, which is part of the Bagnan area in the Howrah district of West Bengal. It’s a very different vibe from the city, being surrounded by trees and small ponds. The 711303 pin code area is quite peaceful, though the narrow roads can be a challenge for the steel delivery trucks. We work out of a plain, one-story building that sits near some local houses. Inside, the floor is made of simple concrete and the furniture is mostly mismatched. We spend our days tracking the steel movements and talking to the local workers. The pace here is a bit slower, which we don't mind at all. Sometimes the power goes out for a few hours, and we just sit outside in the shade until it comes back on. It’s a very human way to work. We know the families living nearby and often see their kids playing near the gate. There’s no corporate hierarchy here; we all just pitch in and do what needs to be done. We bring our lunch from home and eat together under the fan in the main room. It’s not a shiny or modern office by any means, but it serves us well. The air is thick with the smell of the countryside and the occasional smoke from a nearby kitchen. We are just a local group of people doing our jobs in a quiet corner of Howrah without needing any fancy gadgets.
