Ashoka Steel & Alloy Company

Ashoka Steel & Alloy Company is tucked away at 135/9 on Girish Ghosh Road in Belur. It is an old part of town, and the road has seen better days. Our facility is a bit of a maze of different sections and storage areas. We have been here for quite some time, and the building reflects that history with its worn brickwork and heavy iron gates. The air around here always smells a bit like burnt metal and old grease. Inside the shop floor, the light comes in through high windows that are covered in a thin layer of soot. We have some heavy machinery that has been running for years; it’s loud and requires a lot of oiling. The staff here are mostly local men from around Belur who have worked with metal their whole lives. We have a small area near the entrance where we keep our boots and helmets. The office is just a cluttered room with a ceiling fan that wobbles a little when it’s on high speed. There are always piles of invoices and metal samples sitting on the desks. We spend our days managing orders and making sure the alloys are mixed correctly. It isn't glamorous work, and we usually go home with dirty hands and tired backs. We just focus on getting through the workload and keeping the machines in good shape for the next day's shift. It’s just how things go here on Girish Ghosh Road.
