Granite Zone

We are located over at No. 327/4- A and also use the spaces at No. 5- A and 5- E. It’s a bit of a spread-out setup here at Granite Zone. We’ve got different sections for different types of stone, so sometimes you have to walk back and forth between the units to see everything. It keeps us on our feet throughout the day. The sun hits the yard pretty hard in the afternoon, so we usually try to get the heavy loading done early in the morning before it gets too hot. We’ve been in this spot for a while, and the neighbors are used to the sound of the forklifts by now. It’s not the most organized looking place, but we know where every single slab is hidden. Sometimes a customer asks for a specific grain, and we have to dig through a few layers to find it. It’s a lot of work, but that’s the job. My nephew helps me with the paperwork on the weekends, but mostly it’s just me and the crew. We don’t do much advertising; the sign out front is a bit faded but people still find us. We just focus on keeping the slabs in good condition and making sure they get loaded onto the trucks safely. It’s a simple way to make a living. There’s always a lot of dust, and our boots are always gray, but it’s okay. We like the business and the people we meet.
