Hassanamba Chicken Farm

Out here in Vidyanagar things start very early in the morning. At Hassanamba Chicken Farm we are usually up and moving before the sun even shows. The chickens start making noise as soon as there is a bit of light. It’s a lot of physical work like carrying feed bags and checking the water lines. The smell of the farm is something you just get used to after a couple of days. We don't have a fancy office or any polished floors. Most of the ground is just packed earth and gravel. We spend our time walking between the sheds and making sure everything is running okay. My hands are usually rough from the daily chores. We don't use any high-tech systems, just old-fashioned hard work and keeping an eye on the birds. When the delivery trucks come to pick up the crates it gets very hectic for an hour or two. We have a small shed where we keep the records in some old notebooks. It’s a bit dusty and there are always a few feathers floating around. We don't have time for marketing or making things look pretty for visitors. It is a working farm and we just focus on getting the work done. The weather affects us a lot so we are always watching the clouds. It’s a simple life out here in Vidyanagar but it keeps us busy from dawn till dusk every single day.
