We are over at House No. 113 in Purani Tehsil. This is an old part of the city, and the streets are narrow, so it’s better if you walk or take a rickshaw to get here. We do clothing, mostly for men, but it’s not a big department store. It’s more of a local shop where we know a lot of the people who walk through the door. We have racks of shirts and trousers, and we try to keep things looking neat, though it gets messy when we're busy during the festival season. The house we are in has been around for a long time. It has high ceilings and stays relatively cool even when it’s hot outside. We don't have fancy mannequins or big window displays. We just put out what we have on the tables. Sometimes we get new stock in and we have to move everything around to make it fit in the limited space. We don't do much advertising; people just know we are here in Purani Tehsil. We like the neighborhood because it feels lived-in and real. You hear the vendors outside and the neighbors talking. We usually open up a bit late in the morning and stay open until the sun goes down. It’s a simple life. We chat with the customers about their families while they look at fabrics. It’s more about the community than just selling a jacket to a stranger.
