Hotel Amritsar Yatri Niwas is right in the heart of Haridwar on Jassa Ram Road. If you walk down Shiv Murti Gali, you will find us. We are very close to Harki Pauri and the Bara Bazar, which is where everyone wants to be when they come here. It is a very tight area. The streets are narrow and always full of people, cows, and rickshaws. Our place is really for the yatris—the pilgrims who come for the holy Ganga. They don't need luxury; they just need a safe place to keep their bags and sleep for a few hours. We are near the Chooti wala Restaurant, which everyone knows. The building is tall and narrow to fit into the street. The stairs are a bit steep. We try to keep things as quiet as we can, but Haridwar is a noisy town with bells ringing and people chanting at all hours. We don't offer much more than a room and some basic advice on how to get to the ghats. The rooms have simple beds and maybe a small window looking out onto the alley. It’s dusty and crowded outside, but that’s the spirit of the place. We’ve seen thousands of people come through these doors over the years. Most stay for a night or two and then move on to their next destination. We just provide a place for them to rest their heads and wash up before they go.
