Raj Spa Hair Saloon

We’re over here at Raj Spa Hair Saloon on Rajgarh Road in the Lachit Nagar area of Guwahati. Being near the State Bank of India makes it pretty easy for people to find us when they’re out running errands. The shop isn’t very large, but we have enough chairs for everyone who drops by. Most mornings start with us sweeping up hair from the day before and getting the towels ready. It’s usually quiet until about ten o’clock, then the door starts opening more often. We’ve got mirrors all along the wall that have seen a lot of faces over the years. Sometimes the fans don't move the air around as much as we'd like, especially when it’s humid outside in Guwahati. We talk about all sorts of things with the people who sit in our chairs—mostly just local news or what’s happening on the street. It’s nice having the bank nearby because there’s always people walking past. We try to keep things tidy, but hair gets everywhere no matter how much you sweep. The lighting inside is a bit bright, but it helps us see what we’re doing. We don’t have a fancy waiting area, just a few stools for people to sit on while they wait their turn. It’s a basic place where we do haircuts and shaves without much fuss. We’ve been in this spot for a while now and know the neighbors.
