Indha Craft

If you head over to Sector 112 and look for the Literacy India Village Bajghera, you’ll find where we work every day. We at Indha Craft focus on craft work here, mostly making things by hand with the help of people from the local village area. It’s a very different vibe from the big shopping malls or corporate offices in the city. The workspace is often filled with bits of fabric, colorful thread, and different materials we use for our projects. You can hear the hum of sewing machines and people chatting while they work on their designs. It’s a very communal atmosphere, and everyone knows everyone else. We aren't a factory with big automated machines; it’s more about the skill of the hands and the effort people put in. Sometimes things take a little longer to finish because everything is done manually, but we think that’s okay. The building is part of a larger community effort, so there are always students or other people walking around. It gets a bit dusty because of the open spaces and the wind, but we don't really mind. We spend a lot of time teaching new people how to do the stitching or the assembly of the items. It’s satisfying to see a finished product after hours of hard work. We don't have any fancy marketing people here, just us making items that we hope people will find useful. It’s just how we spend our time out here.
