K. B. Exports

Our office, K. B. Exports, is over in the Navrang Building at K.B.Chambers in Majith Mandi. Majith Mandi is a place with a lot of history, and you can feel it when you walk through the old corridors of the building. It’s not one of those new glass buildings you see in the city; it has thick walls and those old-fashioned windows that are hard to open. We are located in the K.B. Chambers section, which is a bit of a walk up the stairs, but it keeps us fit. The rooms are filled with the smell of old paper and whatever goods are moving through the market that day. It gets very loud outside with the loaders and the trucks, but we’ve grown used to the rhythm of it over the years. We have a couple of desks that are probably older than some of the staff, but they work just fine for what we need. There’s always a kettle going somewhere because we drink a lot of tea to stay sharp. We don’t have any fancy decorations on the walls, just a few calendars and some notes scribbled on scraps of paper pinned to the boards. It is a practical environment where the focus is on getting the exports handled and making sure the paperwork is mostly correct. Working in Majith Mandi means you see a lot of different people every day, and we like the grounded feeling of being right in the middle of the trade.
