Rentech Designs is based out of Vpo-Sukhrali in Sector 17A of Gurgaon. It’s one of those parts of town that feels a bit more grounded than the high-rise sections. We’ve set up our office here to stay close to the actual construction and development happening on the ground. Most days start with a quick check of the emails and then we get right into the drafting. There are a lot of technical details to manage when you are doing design work in India, and we spend our time making sure those are handled. The office itself is pretty simple—desks, computers, some old files, and plenty of coffee. We don’t really do the whole corporate image thing. We are more comfortable in our sleeves rolled up, looking at a set of plans. The neighborhood of Sukhrali has its own character, and it’s a good place for a small firm like ours to grow. We know the local streets and the way things work around here. It’s a lot of hard work and sometimes it gets stressful when deadlines are tight, but that is part of the job. We focus on the practical side of things, making sure that whatever we design can actually be built properly. It’s just us here in Sector 17A, doing what we know how to do best without any extra fuss or fancy talk about missions.
