Our place, Neeraj Flavour & Tea Plantation Pvt Ltd., is located at 268 and 268/4 in Marla Model Town. It’s not a huge estate like you might imagine when you hear the word plantation, but we handle our tea business from here. We have a lot of bags and samples lying around most of the time. The smell of tea is everywhere, which I suppose is a good thing. We spend a lot of time tasting and sorting through different leaves to see what’s good. It’s mostly family and a few helpers who have been around for years. We aren't interested in being some global brand with commercials. We just like tea and know how to find the flavors people enjoy. The office is a bit crowded because we use a lot of the space for storage. We’ve got desks pushed up against crates sometimes. Marla Model Town is a decent area, though parking can be a real headache if you aren't careful. We try to keep things simple. If someone wants a specific kind of blend, we see if we can get it for them. It’s a lot of phone calls and writing things down in ledgers. We still use paper for a lot of stuff because it’s easier to keep track of when things get busy. It isn't a high-tech operation, but the tea is decent and we work hard to keep it that way for everyone.
