ASHU TRADING COMPANY

We are located right off the G.T. Road in Batala. Most people know the Punjab National Bank branch around here, and we are just in the lane near it. Being so close to such a major road means there is always a lot of dust and noise, but it’s great for getting things moved. Ashu Trading Company is basically just a few of us who have known each other for years. We deal with various goods and supplies that come through this part of Punjab. The office is pretty basic—just some desks, a computer that's a bit slow, and a lot of ledgers. We still like writing things down in books sometimes because it feels more solid and real. The winters here get really cold, so we usually have a small heater tucked under the desk and we drink way too much tea to stay warm. In the summer, it’s the opposite, and we just leave the door open to catch whatever breeze there is from the street. We aren't trying to change the world or anything; we just want to make sure our customers get what they ordered on time. Most of our clients are people we’ve known for a decade or more. We talk about the crops, the weather, and then we get down to the business of the day. It’s a very grounded way of working, and we wouldn’t have it any other way in this town.
