Our warehouse is at number 397 in Mayur Vihar Phase I. It’s mostly full of folded tents, bamboo poles, and bundles of colorful cloth. If there is a wedding or a big party nearby, we are usually there setting things up. It’s very physical work. We have to haul all that heavy stuff and make sure it’s secure. Sometimes the weather doesn't help us. If it starts to rain, we have to run and cover everything before it gets ruined. I’ve been doing this since I was a teenager. Now I run the show myself. We have a small team of boys who do the heavy lifting. They are good workers and they stay late when needed. We don't have a fancy showroom. Why would we? You can see our work at every function in the area. We have all different colors of cloth. Reds and yellows are the most popular for weddings. We also do the lights. Strings of bulbs that we have to check every single time we go out. One bulb goes out and the whole line looks bad. It’s a lot of maintenance work during the week. Mayur Vihar is a nice place. People here know us by name. We aren't trying to be the biggest decorators in Delhi. We just want to make sure the tent stays up and looks decent for the guests. After a long event, we are exhausted.
