Rawat Tent House

Our little spot is in Sahibabad, specifically Shop No 2 at S-9 in Shalimar Garden Extn 1. It’s not a very big shop, so we have to be smart about how we stack the tents and the carpets. If you walk by, you’ll probably see us sitting out front on the stools when things are quiet, just watching the people go by. But when it’s busy, you won’t see us at all because we’re out at a site somewhere. Being at Rawat Tent House means you get used to having sore hands from tying knots and pulling heavy ropes all day long. We don’t have a big corporate structure or anything like that. It’s just us trying to make sure everything is where it needs to be. The phone rings a lot, usually with someone asking if we have a specific color of cloth or enough fans for a summer party. We do our best to keep track of everything on a notepad that’s mostly covered in tea stains. The air in the shop always smells a bit like old canvas and maybe some rain if the gear didn't dry out right. We’ve seen a lot of changes in Shalimar Garden over the years, but our shop stays pretty much the same. We just show up, do the heavy lifting, and go home when the job is finally finished.
