Running a tent and catering business in Khoda Colony is hard work, let me tell you. We are located on Railway Road, which is always dusty and full of trucks. At Ma Vaishno Tent & Ketters, we spend most of our time loading heavy iron poles and big bundles of cloth onto the back of our tempos. It’s physical work and your hands are always dirty by the end of the shift. When there is a wedding or a big party nearby, we are up at all hours of the night making sure the tent is straight and the food is ready. The kitchen side of things is even more chaotic, with big pots of dal and mountains of rice being cooked over open flames. We don't have a fancy office where you sit on a sofa. Usually, we are just standing around the yard or sitting on some folded carpets while we wait for the next job. People come to us because they know we’ve been in Khoda Colony for a long time. We don't use big words or have a polished brochure. We just tell you what we can do and how many people we can feed. Things don't always go perfectly—sometimes a light bulb pops or a waiter doesn't show up—but we always manage to get the job done. It’s a loud, busy, and tiring business, but it’s what we do.
