Abhay Pratap Singh Degree College

Abhay Pratap Singh Degree College is located on Kunwarpur Road in Bindki. It's a bit of a drive to get out here but the college building is easy to spot once you're on the right path. We are in the Fatehpur Sikri area of Uttar Pradesh and the surroundings are mostly rural. The college building itself is where everything happens. We have the usual classrooms and an office where we keep all the records in big steel cupboards. There isn't much to say about the style of the place; it’s built for function, not for looks. We have students coming in from all over the district for their degrees. Some of them come on cycles and others use the local transport. During the exam season, the place is packed and quite loud. The rest of the year, it’s just the daily routine of lectures and paperwork. We don't have a big website or a social media team. We just open the gates in the morning and wait for the students to arrive. The staff here is small and we all know each other well. We deal with the heat and the power cuts just like everyone else in the village. It’s hard work keeping a degree college running in this part of the country, but we stay at it day after day without much fuss. We just hope the kids learn enough to help them out later in life.
