Matha College Of Engineering/ Holymatha College

We are over here in Ernakulam, right on Mangalaparambu Road in Karumallur. The college has been part of this N. Parur area for a while now. Most days start pretty early when the buses pull in. You can hear the students talking as they walk toward the main building. Matha College of Engineering and Holymatha College share this space, so there is always someone around. It gets quite hot in the afternoons, but the trees help a bit. The classrooms are just standard rooms where people sit and try to get through their notes. We spend a lot of time looking at schedules and making sure the labs are open. Sometimes the power goes out, which is annoying, but we just wait it out. It’s not a fancy place, just a regular spot for learning engineering and other subjects. The staff rooms are usually full of papers and half-empty tea cups. We have students coming from all over the district, so the mix of voices is interesting. Usually, by five o'clock, the place starts to empty out. The gates stay open until late for the evening staff. It’s a lot of work keeping things running, especially with the rain during monsoon season. We don’t really do much besides the daily teaching and keeping the grounds clean. It’s just how things go here in Kerala. People know us as the local college near the main road. We just keep our heads down and do the job.
