Shalu Art India is our small setup over at R-54 in Ramesh Park. It’s not too far from the main road in Laxmi Nagar, but tucked back enough that it’s not too crazy. We do art pieces and decorative items. It’s mostly just a few of us working at big tables. The walls are covered in sketches and half-finished ideas. Some of them have been there for years. We aren't the fastest workers because we like to take our time with the details. The floor is usually covered in paint drops or bits of metal. It’s not the kind of place where you’d want to wear nice clothes. We don't have a big sign outside, just a small one near the door so people don't get lost. Most of our work comes from people who heard about us from someone else. We spend a lot of time just trying to get things to look right. Sometimes a piece doesn't work out and we have to start over. That’s frustrating, but it happens. We drink a lot of chai and keep the radio on for some noise. The building is a bit old and the windows rattle when a big truck goes by, but it’s a good place for us. We’ve been in this neighborhood for a long time and we like the people here. It’s a simple life, making things and sending them out to our customers.
