Russo Foods India

Up on the third floor here at 75 South Anarkali Extension, things stay pretty busy with Russo Foods India. It’s a bit of a climb up the stairs. The air gets hot in the summer. Once you’re up here, the atmosphere is usually full of whatever we’re packing or processing that day. South Anarkali is a tight-knit kind of place. We feel like a part of the neighborhood even though we’re tucked away in this building. We don’t have a lot of fancy signs or decorations. The focus is mostly on the work benches and making sure the food items are handled right. There are a few of us who have been here since the start. We’ve learned to work around the small space we have. Sometimes the delivery trucks have a hard time navigating the narrow lanes around the extension. There is a lot of shouting and waving from the balcony to get them parked. It’s a practical setup. We spend our mornings checking the quality of the batches and the afternoons getting things ready for the evening transport. It’s not a glamorous life, and the floor usually needs a good sweep by five o'clock. We like the routine of it. We just keep our heads down and make sure the food going out is the same quality we’d eat at home ourselves. It keeps us occupied and the bills paid, which is enough for us most days.
