Being near the Pawan tea stall is actually quite handy because that is where we get our morning chai most days. We have been working from this spot in Shahdara for a while now, handling all sorts of building and construction management tasks. It is a busy office, mostly filled with stacks of paperwork, site plans, and the sound of people talking on their phones. We are not a big corporate firm with fancy lobbies; we are just a group of people who know the local construction scene and try to get things done. Most of our day is spent coordinating with contractors or checking on how the materials are moving. The neighborhood is always crowded and noisy, but that is just the way it is in this part of Delhi. Sometimes the lift in the building acts up, so we end up taking the stairs more than we would like. We do not have any big speeches about what we do. We just come in, handle the projects on our desk, and try to make sure everything stays on track. It is a practical business, and we focus on the day-to-day work rather than anything else. Being on the third floor gives us a decent view of the street life below when we take a breather.
