Over in Bharra Tola, Devalpu, in the Samnapur area of Dindori, you’ll find us. We are the Hal Chalit Mahila Kisaan Women Producer Company Limited. Our office is at Gulab Singh Thakur’s place. This is a company run by the women who work the fields here. In this part of Dindori, the women do a lot of the heavy lifting on the farms, so it made sense for us to have our own group. We aren't trying to be some big, fancy corporation. We are just a group of neighbors who want to make sure our families are taken care of. Farming is hard, and it’s even harder when you’re trying to do it all alone. We meet up and talk about what we need, whether it’s better seeds or help with getting our goods to the market. We don't have any marketing experts or professional writers. We just talk like we always do, about the weather and the crops. Sometimes the rain doesn't come when we need it, and that’s a worry, but we help each other through. Our records are kept simply, and we handle the business stuff as best we can. It’s about practical results for us. We want to see our hard work pay off. It’s a very local effort, rooted right here in Samnapur. We’re just regular women doing the work that needs to be done on the land every day.
