This group, Baiga Chak Mahila Kishan Utpadakproducer Company Limited, is mainly run by the women around the Shahpur area. We are located at the place of Guljar Singh and Gopalichiwli. It is a bit of a trek to get here, but it’s where we do all our important work. In our community, the women do so much of the farming anyway, so it made sense for us to have our own producer company. We meet up and discuss how to sell our crops for a better price. We don't have a lot of fancy equipment. Usually, it’s just us sitting together with our notebooks. We help each other with the paperwork because some of us find it a bit confusing. It’s a very grassroots thing. We talk about the crops, the kids, and the local news while we work. The space we use is simple and shared with the family who lives there. We don't have a sign out front or anything. Everyone in Shahpur knows where we are. We are just trying to make things a little easier for the female farmers in the Baiga Chak region. It’s hard work, and sometimes we struggle to get everything organized, but we keep going because we have to. It’s a very practical way for us to support our families and keep our traditions alive while dealing with the modern market. We don't need much, just a fair chance to sell what we grow.
