Out here in Subkhar, Dindori, things move a bit slower than the big cities. Dindori Natural Farming Producer Company Limited is basically just us farmers trying to look out for each other. We operate out of Girja Shankar Shukla’s place, which most people in the village know. It’s not a big corporate setup with shiny desks. It is more about muddy boots and talking about the weather over tea. We chose to go with natural farming because we saw the soil getting tired from all the chemicals. It took some time for everyone to agree, but now we have a decent group of producers involved. Living in this part of Madhya Pradesh means we are pretty far from the big markets, so forming this company was a way to make sure we don't get overlooked. We handle our own logistics as much as we can. Sometimes the roads are rough, especially during the monsoon, but we manage to get things done. It’s a group effort, and everyone puts in their bit. We don't have a marketing team or anything like that. We just focus on the crops and making sure the harvest is decent. If someone wants to know what we do, they usually just walk up to the house and ask. It is honest work, and it keeps us busy from sunrise to sunset. We are just glad to be working for ourselves now.
