P. D. Steels

You'll find P. D. Steels at D-44, Railway Road. Being right near the railway means there's always a bit of a rumble and some noise when the trains go by. We’ve been here for a while now. We handle steel, mostly cutting it and supplying it to local builders and small workshops. It’s a dusty job, and the yard gets quite messy when a big shipment comes in from the factory. We don't have a polished showroom with lights. Our office is just a small corner with a metal desk and a chair that's seen better days. We spend more time out in the yard than inside anyway. The guys working here have been with us for a long time, so we're more like family. We don't go in for big corporate talk or mission statements. If someone needs a load of steel, we tell them the price and when we can get it there. It's pretty straightforward and simple. Some days are slow, and we just sit around the yard and talk about the neighborhood or the weather. Other days, we’re working flat out until it gets dark. We like being on Railway Road because it’s easy for the trucks to find us. It’s a practical location for a practical business like ours. We’re just local people doing what we know how to do, which is moving metal from one place to another. That is it.
