If you know Mandi Gobindgarh, then you know Loha Bazar is where everything happens. Anchal Steel is right in the middle of all that metal and noise. We are near the Modi Mill Road, so there are trucks coming and going at all hours. It gets pretty loud with the sound of steel clanging and engines revving, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. Our office is just a small room where we keep the records and talk to the drivers. It’s usually covered in a fine layer of iron dust no matter how much we clean. We don't have any fancy chairs or a lobby. You just walk in and we talk about what’s needed. We’ve been at this address for a long time. People know where to find us. We don't really do much advertising. Most of our work comes from people who have been dealing with us for a decade or more. Sometimes the traffic on the road makes it hard for the loaders to get in, which can be frustrating. We just drink our chai and wait for the clearing. It’s hard work, dealing with steel in this heat. By the end of the day, we are all pretty tired. But it’s an honest living. We just focus on getting the weights right and making sure the trucks leave on time. That’s about all there is to it. The rhythm of the market keeps us going.
