It’s a solid part of New Delhi and we’ve been here long enough to know most of the people on the block. Our office isn't some high-tech lab. It’s a place with books everywhere and draftsmen working away on their screens. We like the grit of the city. It shows up in how we work. We don't try to make things look like they belong in a museum; we want them to belong in New Delhi. That means thinking about the dust, the sun, and how people actually live here. We spend a lot of time arguing over small details because those are the things that end up mattering most. It’s not always a smooth process. There are days when nothing seems to go right with the permits or the weather, but we just keep at it. We’ve got a small team that has stayed together for a while, which helps when things get stressful. We aren't looking for awards or fame. We just want to finish a project and know that the roof won't leak and the rooms feel right.
